OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Wednesday, the Kansas City Royals wouldn’t comment on where they plan to build their new stadium, but FOX4 confirmed in late May that an affiliate of the organization bought the mortgage on the old Sprint campus, now known as Aspiria.
According to the Kansas City Business Journal, the Wichita based company that owns the land has until August 9 to make a more than $232 million payment on the property. Otherwise, the Royals affiliate could start to take over the property.

Democratic State House Rep. Mari-Lynn Poskin, who represents the Aspiria campus, says it never occurred to her that the Royals might consider that area.
“When I first heard that, I was like, ‘What?’” Poskin said in an interview with FOX4 Wednesday at her Leawood home. “And my husband and I went over there, and we actually walked, you know physically walked the entire thing, and I saw it. I really did see it.”…
