LIBERTY, Mo. (KCTV) – Nearly one year after a new law changed the way suspects who drive away from traffic stops are charged, leaders say they’re using it weekly.
The law, known as Valentine’s Law, stems from an incident in Missouri in 2021, when a St. Louis County deputy was killed during a high-speed crash, sending shockwaves through the state.
Three years later, in August 2024, legislators took action, putting higher punishments into effect.
