Kansas City man sentenced to nine years in prison for illegal firearm possession

A Kansas City, Missouri, man has been sentenced in federal court following his guilty plea to a firearms possession charge stemming from a 2024 arrest.

Jerrell D. Coppage, 34, received a sentence of nine years and seven months in federal prison, to be served without the possibility of parole. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Howard F. Sachs.

Coppage entered a guilty plea on March 6, 2025, to one count of being a felon in possession of firearms. According to court records, law enforcement discovered Coppage in possession of three firearms on January 3, 2024: a Glock Model 22 .40-caliber pistol, an Anderson Manufacturing Model AM-15 .223-caliber pistol, and a Ruger Model LCP .380-caliber pistol…
