KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – One of the largest Hispanic/Latino advocacy and rights conventions, UnidosUS, called the nationwide immigration raid pushback the ‘Civil Rights Movement for Latinos in the US’ at Tuesday afternoon’s discussion.
Tuesday’s discussion focused on the fear that the Latino and Hispanic community is living with. Leaders said this is affecting the American economy. People are living in fear, not wanting to work, and customers aren’t wanting to go out.
Rita Fernandez, Immigration Director for UnidosUS, said, “The community is really feeling these moments. Where they may be afraid to go out, and it’s impacting their daily lives. It’s a really sad moment for our community where people may not feel safe or welcome enough in their own communities.”…
