Questions continue to swirl about the handling of an inquiry by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Lenexa Police into a Lenexa councilmember’s citizenship status.
Prompted by a resident complaint forwarded from the Kansas Bureau of Investigations, the Lenexa Police Department conducted an inquiry in July into Lenexa Councilmember Melanie Arroyo’s eligibility to hold public office.
The resident, unnamed by KBI and Lenexa Police, complained after Arroyo submitted written testimony earlier this year to the Kansas State Senate and wrote an opinion piece in the Kansas City Star where she stated she had been an undocumented student for several years before attaining citizenship…
