This year marks the 50th one that Mr. D’s Donuts has served up its breakfast confections in Shawnee.
For years, co-owner Johnny Chen said customers from all over Johnson County have made trips to the shop at 75th Street and Nieman Road on busy weekend mornings.
Though many of them live close by, several of them frequently make the drive from further south to grab doughnuts there. As such, Chen said, they’ve been wondering when that drive might become a little bit shorter…
