KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating the use of force by a trooper which resulted in a fatality.
Early Saturday morning a trooper saw a silver Chevrolet Tahoe headed northbound on I-35 south of Chouteau Trafficway in Clay County. The driver of the Tahoe was suspected of being intoxicated, as the driver couldn’t maintain lane and nearly struck the guardrail several times, posing a danger to other drivers.
The trooper attempted to stop the driver, the driver fled, and the trooper began pursuing. At 1:21 a.m. on northbound I-35, south of Brighton Avenue, the trooper conducted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) to end the pursuit. The Tahoe went off the right side of the highway, crashed into the ditch and overturned. The driver was ejected from the Tahoe and died at the scene…
