JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) has released its annual Labor Day holiday report, which shows five traffic deaths and one drowning in Missouri.
MSHP’s statistics cover the Labor Day holiday from 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29, through 11:59 p.m., Monday, Sept. 1.
MSHP says there were five fatalities from traffic incidents over the Labor Day weekend, including one fatality in southwest Missouri.
- On Saturday, Aug. 30, a 52-year-old man from Clarkton, Missouri, died when the motorcycle he was driving drove off a dead-end road and landed in a ditch in New Madrid County.
- On Saturday, Aug. 30, a 48-year-old female pedestrian from Excelsor Springs, Missouri, died while walking on Missouri 291 and being hit by a vehicle in Clay County.
- On Sunday, Aug. 31, a 46-year-old man from Bunker, Missouri, died after his vehicle left the road, overturned and ejected him 10 miles east of Bunker.
- On Sunday, Aug. 31, a 42-year-old male pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Missouri 364 near Jungerman in St. Charles County.
- On Monday, Sept. 1, a 16-year-old male from Bentonville, Arkansas, died after a UTV he was driving overturned on private property in McDonald County.

MSHP also reported three boating accidents during the Labor Day weekend that caused four injuries in total. They also reported one drowning at the Lake of the Ozarks on Saturday, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man from Glenwood, Illinois…
