KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Just days before Missouri leaders plan to meet in Jefferson City for a special session, over a thousand Kansas Citians gathered to protest.
The peaceful protest centered around pushing back against redistricting, but took on a whole new meaning when many chose to forego their Labor Day plans in order to show up.
“We know the cloth built from in labor and a day we should be celebrating labor, sadly enough, we’re out here, defending democracy and labor, but we’re gonna get it done,” Terrence Wise, a ride share driver and member of Stand Up KC, said.
HAPPENING NOW: Hundreds of people have gathered in #KansasCity at Mill Creek Park to protest #Missouri Gov. Kehoe calling a special session to redraw the congressional maps of the state, potentially unseating Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver to give the #GOP more power. Stay with @KCTV5. pic.twitter.com/dlfSYwn241
