OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – 24 years ago today, nearly 3,000 people died in the deadliest attack on American soil, and one of the deadliest ever in the world. 9/11 is etched in the heart and history of the nation that has pledged to ‘never forget’.
“To honor the sacrifices they made – the ultimate sacrifice – is a true honor, and I am so fortunate to be part of a city that takes the time to make sure this is done respectfully,” Overland Park Police Chief Doreen Jokerst said.
The 9/11 Memorial ceremony in Overland Park began at 7:30 a.m. September 11, 2025, in remembrance of lives lost in the North Tower, the first target hit at 7:46 a.m. CST.
