New Bar K bankruptcy filing sheds light on just how dire its finances were

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A recent court filing sheds more light on Bar K’s finances, including how much cash it had on hand after abruptly shuttering all three facilities on July 29.

Bar K Holdings LLC and its subsidiaries filed a voluntary petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on Aug. 4. Bar K had locations in Kansas City, St. Louis and Oklahoma City. Its dog parks included a bar/restaurant and hosted a variety of events, including trivia nights, live music and breed meetups.

In a new filing outlining assets and liabilities, Bar K Holdings revealed it had only $1,677 in its checking account. Its only other listed asset is a 2012 Nissan NV cargo van estimated to be worth $4,000. Its total liabilities, however, exceed $1.5 million…
