Mo’ Pies quickly became a local favorite when it launched in 2020. It’s no secret why the pie pop-up has been such a hit: Mo’ Pies’ owner Curt Lafferty worked as an executive for Tippin’s Pies for nearly twenty years. Now, after five years of popping up at farmers markets throughout the metro, Lafferty has officially locked down a brick-and-mortar in Leawood (7956 Lee Blvd., Leawood, KS).
The new site, formerly Classic Kitchen Designs Studio, sits in the Somerset Shops. While the space will eventually include a full production kitchen, Lafferty will begin by operating as a pop-up through the holiday season. Customers will pick up their online orders from the new storefront while Lafferty continues baking from a commercial kitchen elsewhere. If Thanksgiving and Christmas go smoothly, he hopes to have the full kitchen build-out complete and the store fully operational next year.
Still, the 2,500 square-foot storefront will primarily serve as a pickup point for online orders. Because parking is limited and the lot is one-way in, one-way out, Lafferty recommends following signs to help with the flow of foot and car traffic…
