Traffic stop for defective taillight turns into police pursuit ending in Kansas City

CASS COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Belton man is behind bars after leading police on a pursuit over a defective taillight.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy attempted to pull over 59-year-old Rodney Camp at around 2:20 a.m. on I-49 in rural Peculiar for a taillight that was not working.

Instead, Camp accelerated his car and led authorities on a pursuit that passed North Cass Parkway, where Belton Police Department officers successfully used tire deflation devices…
