Man found shot to death in KC’s Ivanhoe neighborhood after gunshot detection alert

A man was found dead in a vehicle Tuesday morning after gunshot detection technology alerted Kansas City authorities of a shooting in the Ivanhoe neighborhood.

Just before 8 a.m., Kansas City police officers were sent to the 4000 block of Brooklyn Avenue on two separate calls for reported ShotSpotter activations, according to Kansas City police spokesperson Ofc. Alayna Gonzalez. Upon arriving on scene, officers located a vehicle with gunshot damage and an unresponsive man inside, suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds. Officers found no signs of life from the man, and emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

The incident is currently being investigated as a homicide. Authorities are searching for suspects and information about what led to the shooting. A suspect has yet to be identified, police said…
