KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) says a teenager is dead after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 70 Thursday evening in Blue Springs.
The Independence Police Department said around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, police tried to pull over a car near eastbound I-70 and Little Blue Parkway with the teen and another person, as they suspected the driver was under the influence.

Police said the driver of the car began merging toward the shoulder and was nearly struck by an eastbound semi-truck as it was yielding to the emergency equipment.
