iPhone’s crash detection feature alerts authorities to fatal Edgerton crash

EDGERTON, Kan. (KCTV) – A woman died over the weekend after a crash in Edgerton that was first detected by an iPhone’s automatic crash notification feature.

The Johnson County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office said emergency crews were called to the area of 167th and Edgerton Rd. just after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10.

Deputies noted that after an iPhone automatically alerted authorities to the crash, a separate 911 call also reported a vehicle in a nearby ditch.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a heavily damaged vehicle with a lone female driver who was unresponsive…
