Kansas City runner represents US in 2026 Cross Country World Championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City’s Wes Porter competed against the best in the world in the 2026 Cross Country World Championships over the weekend, securing a fifth-place trophy for Team USA in the 4x2k mixed relay race.

The Rockhurst High School graduate ran in Saturday’s race alongside three other star U.S.-based athletes: Ethan Strand, Sage Hurta-Klecker and Gracie Morris.

The team finished in fifth place with a 22:43 total time. According to Watch Athletics, Porter ran a 5:18, making him the second fastest on his team.
