KC Strings, one of the most iconic downtown Merriam businesses, is selling the prominent Merriam Drive storefront to the city.
The Merriam City Council on Feb. 23 in a 7-0 vote approved the purchase of KC Strings — one of the most well known businesses in the entire downtown area — in order to prepare for future flood mitigation and revitalization of the city’s downtown. Councilmember Whitney Yadrich was absent.
Thus far, city leaders have yet to present updated plans from either the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or Overland Park engineering firm HNTB for flood mitigation plans related to Upper Turkey Creek, which runs along downtown Merriam…
