The Prairie Village man who ordered a hand recount of the recent ballot question on the city’s form of government has settled up with the county to pay for it, bringing a long-running dispute to an apparent, quiet end.
County officials had threatened to sue John Cantrell over the cost of the recount in January, after saying he went back on a credit card payment covering the $4,828.46 cost. But Cantrell did eventually pay on Feb. 3, and no suit was filed, officials said.
The Nov. 4 ballot question asked voters to consider whether the city should abandon its current mayor-council form of government. It was supported by PV United, a group of residents who objected to city leaders’ attempts to look at municipal codes to find ways to encourage more affordable housing…
