Affidavit recalls witnesses’ rush to aid teacher stabbed by man while sitting at Olathe park

A newly released criminal affidavit details last week’s attack on an Olathe music teacher as she sat at a picnic table in a city park.

According to the affidavit, released by the court at the request of the Johnson County Post, Olathe police officers were called to Two Trails Park just after noon on Thursday, March 19, for an armed disturbance.

“Thought she had been hit by a ball”

The affidavit says, “Initial reports indicated that a male wearing all black, black boots, black trench coat, black hat, and with a backpack, had just stabbed a woman at the park, and was seen running away to the west toward Ridgeview.”

Officers arrived at the park and “found a group of people surrounding” the victim, later identified as Jamie Trumpp, a mother of three and a choir instructor at Indian Trails Middle School…
