KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Enjoy these next couple of warm, dry days before an unsettled, impactful pattern takes over.
Temperatures swiftly warm to the mid-70s this afternoon. Meanwhile, winds will strengthen into the afternoon with gusts up to 35 mph. This evening will be very mild, as we barely cool from the 70s into the upper 60s.
MONDAY: Even warmer temperatures arrive as we gear up for the Royals Home Opener! Expect temperatures at first pitch to be around 86 degrees, which looks to smash a daily heat record. Winds will strengthen even further on Monday as well, with gusts up to 40 mph likely throughout the game. The good news? Those winds will be from the southwest, and may help balls launch even farther into centerfield. A warm evening will follow with temperatures only cooling into the 70s and upper 60s. Late night into Tuesday morning, itβs possible that we squeeze out a few light rain showers.
TUESDAY: Our next chance to find rain and thunderstorms arrives on Tuesday evening. A FIRST WARN is in place as itβs more likely than not that we find rain, with chances at a 60%. Models continue to keep the highest rain potential south of the I-70 corridor. Any thunderstorms we do find look to stay sub-severe, so outside of some lightning and pockets of heavy rainfall, impacts look rather low. Some rain may linger into early Wednesday morning, so prepare for a soggy morning commute.
