KCMO Mayor Quinton Lucas plans to stay mayor, declines run for Congress in 2026

Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas says he will not run for Congress in 2026, according to a video he posted on X early Monday morning.

According to the mayor’s video, he says there is a lot of work to do in Kansas City over the next year and a half, and he plans to be there for all of it as mayor.

In a press release, Lucas stated, “The effort is clear: to get Democrats and common-sense Moderates and Independents out of office and to make sure our voices are marginalized as we stand against ICE, as we stand up for our communities, because we stand up for our workers. I plan to be in that struggle. I plan to be in that struggle as your mayor in Kansas City.”…
