Prison for violent KC kidnapping and murder

KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man is going to prison for his role in a 2023 homicide, kidnapping, and assault.

Under an Alford plea agreement, Jean D. Felix, 44, Kansas City was convicted of 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Kidnapping, and 1st Degree Assault. He was sentenced to 30 years for murder 10 years each for kidnapping and assault, with the sentences to run concurrently, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office.

“This case is a painful reminder that intimate partner violence too often ends in tragedy, and the warning signs need to be taken seriously long before a life is lost,” Prosecutor Johnson said. “I am grateful to our team and the Kansas City Police Department for their commitment to securing justice for the victim and her family. We will continue standing with survivors, honor those we’ve lost, and hold abusers accountable.”…
