Waterfront Rescue Mission receives funding for dog kennel in Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) – Statistics from the Department of Housing and Urban Development show one in four people experiencing homelessness are living on the streets with their pets, including in Escambia County where the Waterfront Rescue Mission says they see it every day.

Most of those they encounter choose to stay on the street instead of leaving their pet behind.

“When someone doesn’t have anyone left in the world they have that pet that’s with them that has been loyal to them so to ask them to come into a facility and to get their needs met but then we have no place for their dog to go is really a bad situation,” said Jason Grizzard, vice president of ministry services…
