PENSACOLA, FL — Heavy rain hit Pensacola Thursday afternoon as the National Weather Service kept a flash flood warning in place for south central Escambia County.
Doppler radar showed thunderstorms dropping intense rainfall across the area, with nearly 2 inches reported at Pensacola International Airport between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
What officials say is happening now
The warning was issued at 2:38 p.m. and runs until 5:30 p.m. CDT, according to the NWS in Mobile. Meteorologists said 2 to 4 inches of rain had already fallen in some spots, with another 2 to 4 inches still possible.
