ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) — A massive, 18-ton concrete pyramid honoring political activist Charlie Kirk leaves from Orange Beach this week, headed to Destin.

“He was a great family man, a great leader, very intelligent, great debater, and just an admirable young man. Such a shame to see his life snuffed out that soon.” The memorial fishing reef is the brainchild of retired fishing Captain Mike Parker.
“Thought it would be good to do one in his honor,” said Parker. “We have a whole lot of people in our area that had followed him that loved Charlie Kirk, so I put it out there and they said let’s do it.”
The artificial reef will be deployed in about 80 feet of water a couple of miles off Destin’s Henderson Beach near the RMS Cyclops. While it may be an artificial reef, it will be a permanent memorial.
