Pedestrian struck and killed by car, FHP says

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) – A 69-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Monday evening while crossing North W Street in Escambia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened about 7:40 p.m. just north of Van Pelt Lane. Troopers said the Pensacola man was walking west across North W Street in front of Casey’s gas station. According to the FHP, the 77-year-old Pensacola resident driving a southbound sedan could not see the pedestrian crossing the road in time to avoid hitting him.

The pedestrian died at a local hospital…
