After costly dump cleanup from squatters, Escambia landowner wants out

A property owner ordered by Escambia County to clean up an illegal dump and homeless encampment on land he says he cannot legally access has spent nearly $5,000 complying with the code enforcement order and now says the ordeal has convinced him to sell roughly 46 acres he had planned to develop.

Mike Al-Selwadi said crews have cleaned up the Montclair property, removing three 30-yard dumpsters of debris and collecting another nearly full dumpster of discarded tires.

He estimates there are 50 to 60 tires still requiring disposal, which require careful navigation of Florida state laws for transport and disposal…
