Florida is no stranger to hurricanes and similar natural disasters. However, most people usually tend to care more about their lives than anything else. Van Gary Spikes Jr. was allegedly an exception. He allegedly attempted to break into a store while parts of Pensacola were experiencing a power outage

Much of Pensacola was experiencing a power outage following Hurricane Isaias, because of which the security was fairly lax. While Spikes allegedly ran after noticing the deputy, he was quickly caught by the deputy. Spikes reportedly had burglary tools and was even wearing a mask during the entire thing, and he had done damage to the store’s window.
Spikes faced several charges because of this incident. According to the sheriff’s office, these charges include attempted burglary of an unoccupied structure during a state of emergency, possession of burglary tools, wearing a mask during the commission of a second-degree felony, loitering and prowling, criminal mischief involving damage of $200 or more, and obstruction without violence.
The Sheriff Went on Video to Discuss the Incident
The official Escambia County Sheriff’s Office social media accounts posted a video with Sheriff Chip W. Simmons discussing the entire incident. While the sheriff mostly gave a rundown of information that was mentioned above, he also said that Spikes was now in jail. The video’s caption also states that jail is his future…
