Warrington Preparatory Academy is poised to finalize a nearly $7.5 million Triumph Gulf Coast grant that will allow the Pensacola charter school to provide career training and certifications to nearly 3,500 students and families.
At its Feb. 5 regular meeting, the Triumph board “will take up for consideration and intends to approve” a proposal for award of funding to Charter Schools USA Inc., Triumph announced last week.
According to a project summary, Charter Schools USA is requesting a $7,454,867 Triumph grant to offer information technology and unmanned systems industry certifications at Warrington Prep, to include Digital Tools, Google, MS Office and Adobe suite. The Triumph funds will be used for personnel, classroom renovation and construction, equipment, and grant compliance and will result in at least 3,479 industry certifications.
Program supporters are hopeful that the career credentials will contribute to both parents and students in the community earning a sustainable wage and building financial stability. Triumph Gulf Coast staff rated the project an “A” in terms of economic impact, citing a $39 increase in household income per $1 of Triumph investment.
