PENSACOLA, Fla. ( WKRG ) — A Pensacola man was arrested on Monday on child solicitation charges, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
According to cyber agents with the FLDE, they arrested 31-year-old James Michael Burkett for sexual solicitation of a child online after an undercover investigation. Agents explained that the investigation into Burkett began in November 2023 after he messaged someone he thought was a 13-year-old female explicit photos and asked to meet for sexual relations.
In a press release issued by the FDLE, officials explain that the person Burkett was talking to was an undercover agent posing as a teen. The online communications indicate that investigators obtained a warrant for Burkett.
Authorities say that Burkett was charged with one count of using a computer to seduce, solicit, lure, or entice a minor; one count of promoting the sexual performance of a minor; two counts of transmission of material harmful to a minor; and one count of the use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.
