A resident of Pensacola, Adrian Demone Hall, has been charged with making threats towards an animal control officer and physically attacking a deputy, following complaints from neighbors about his chickens roaming freely in the neighborhood. As reported by WEAR in Pensacola, a report of the arrest obtained revealed that an officer from Escambia County (Fla.) Animal Control visited Hall’s residence to gather the chickens, which had been reported by neighbors to be wandering around the neighborhood.
When the officer began to round up the chickens, however, Hall came out of the house armed with a steak knife and yelled “Hell no, you’re not taking my chickens,” according to the report.
The animal control officer then started to back away after being threatened with a weapon and started calling for backup. While in her vehicle, the suspect then cut her catch net and threw her animal carrier back at her. Escambia County deputies finally arrived, restrained Hall, and took him into custody.
Upon their arrival at the jail, a deputy reached in to help Hall out of the patrol car. However, as he was getting out, Hall intentionally headbutted the deputy and kicked him twice, according to the report. Hall is facing charges of aggravated assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, as well as criminal mischief. As of Friday afternoon, he was still being held in the Escambia County Jail on a $21,000 bond.
