Olivia Searcy can be funny anywhere, whether it’s a noisy brewery, a noisy bar or a noisy music hall.
But she’s even funnier when she has a place reserved for funny. You know – a comedy club where “funny” is in the club DNA.
Searcy and other comics will perform Thursday at the opening of the new downtown Pensacola comedy club, Club 27 Comedy Society, located at 201 E. Wright St., in an event space inside Culinary Productions near the Pensacola Bay Center.
Jeremy Jadallah is the CEO of the new Club 27 venture and hopes to bring weekly comedy shows to the location beginning in March.
“I’m excited someone is interested in even having a comedy club,” said Pensacola’s Searcy, who has been performing standup comedy for about 10 years − though we’re guessing she was funny before that too. She recently returned from a California trip where she performed in Los Angeles and San Diego, and she has also performed in Atlanta, New Orleans and many other cities. “We’ve had people talk about it before, but it just never happened.”
