Work has started on a new floating dock at Bagdad Mill Site Park. Site clearance began on February 8, 2024, and the project should be finished by May 24, 2024, depending on the weather. This work will affect the park’s northern area and may lead to temporary closure of a nearby walking path.
The dock’s construction is funded by the Local Option Sales Tax and a Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant. The construction site and possible path closure are marked on the site plan, available online.
Bagdad Mill Site Park is at 6953 Main St. in Bagdad. It covers 21 acres and opened in May 2016. The park has a multi-use path, a handicap-accessible fishing pier, picnic areas, benches, restrooms, a kayak launch, and educational displays.
Santa Rosa County, the Bagdad Waterfronts Florida Partnership, and other partners developed the park. They spent over ten years restoring the property, planning, securing funding, and developing the site.
The new dock will provide more recreational space for park users. Visitors should note the ongoing construction and possible path closures.
