The dining establishments of Escambia County have faced a strict round of health inspections over the last 30 days, with several popular spots tussling with significant violations that have caught the attention of both local patrons and regulatory bodies.
Among the restaurants facing the most scrutiny was Nick’s Boathouse in Pensacola, which initially encountered a concerning situation leading to a temporary closure after 13 total violations, including 6 high-priority violations.
On February 7, 2024, inspectors discovered evidence of rodent activity, including approximately 234 droppings in various areas of the establishment.
This highlighted findings prompted an immediate halt in operations, demanding a comprehensive cleanup and a subsequent inspection that saw the seafood and Cajun/Creole restaurant comply with no further violations the following day on February 8.
Pedro’s Tacos and Tequila Bar also found itself under the spotlight with 10 violations, including two of high priority, during an inspection on January 17, 2024.
