PENSACOLA, Fla. — Nick’s Boathouse, a staple in downtown Pensacola in Escambia County, and known for its waterfront dining and local seafood specialties, has reopened after addressing a series of health violations that did not lead to an official closure but prompted significant improvements.
The beloved local eatery, which prides itself on serving fresh Gulf seafood with southern and Cajun influences, underwent a routine inspection on February 7, 2024, resulting in 13 cited violations, according to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation.
Despite the challenges, the restaurant was quick to respond, making the necessary corrections to meet health standards by the following day.
According to the inspection report, the Escambia County restaurant faced six high-priority violations, including issues with dishmachine sanitizer strength, improper storage of raw animal foods, and evidence of rodent activity.
Additionally, ready-to-eat foods were not marked or consumed within the seven-day safety window, and there was a concern with food being cold held at unsafe temperatures.
