National Aviation Museum to celebrate 100-year-old Navy veteran

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — The National Naval Aviation Museum is preparing to celebrate a soon-to-be centenarian next week.

World War II Navy veteran Lt. Cmdr. Cash Barber, a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross medal, is turning 100 and the museum is hosting a special celebration to honor him. According to a press release, the celebration is set for Monday, May 6.

Lt. Cmdr. Barber is special to the museum since in addition to his service and dedication to the country, “he continues to inspire visitors every Tuesday by sharing his captivating stories in front of the PBY-5 aircraft that he crewed in during WWII.”

The release adds, “Even at 100 years old, Lt. Cmdr. Barber remains committed to his weekly tours, captivating museum visitors with his firsthand accounts of history.”
