N.B Cook Elementary School students dance their way across Mexico with Global Corner

N.B Cook Elementary School students had their passports stamped for a voyage to Mexico as they learned about various elements of Mexico’s culture including traditions, clothing, geography, music, animals and language.

Each year, Northwest Florida nonprofit Global Corner chooses a different country to educate Escambia and Santa Rosa students. Since they were founded in 2008, they have educated over 90,000 children and “visited” 16 different countries in hopes of producing global competency and cultural appreciation in children.

This is done through hands-on activities, such as learning the Jarabe Tapatío, which is the national dance of Mexico often referred to as the Mexican hat dance. Along the way, Global Corner hopes students gain curiosity for the world around them and build empathy and understanding.
