ECSO arrests 2 more Escambia students after school shooting threats

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday night the arrest of two more children for their alleged role in making threats to shoot and kill students at school.

In a Facebook post, the ECSO said they arrested a 12-year-old McArthur Elementary School student and a 15-year-old homeschooled student. They charged both students with written or electronic threats with intent to kill or cause bodily harm.

“We have been very clear about school threats,” Sheriff Chip Simmons said in the release. “If you make such a threat, you will be arrested.”

The arrests come a few days after an 11-year-old middle school girl was arrested in Escambia County during a statewide flood of school threats. She was charged with written or electronic threats to conduct a mass shooting, a second-degree felony.

The Office of the State Attorney will determine if the young students will be tried as juveniles or adults.
