The 24-year-old girlfriend of Christian Ketchup, the man charged with a fatal shooting at Mugs & Jugs Bar and Package in Ferry Pass, pleaded no contest to her misdemeanor battery charge Friday afternoon for beating the victim as she lay unconscious in a parking lot.
A judge found Rachel DeRise guilty of battering Tierra Binion while the women were at Mug & Jugs on Scenic Highway on Aug. 23, 2023. DeRise was sentenced to 60 days in county jail, court records indicate.
Court records also state DeRise will serve 12 months of probation following her release from Escambia County Jail. DeRise must also, within 30 days of her release from jail, write a 500-word letter about “what she feels she has learned from this event.”
DeRise will also need to enroll in an anger management course.

DeRise and Binion allegedly got into an altercation at Mugs & Jugs that ended up spilling out into the parking lot around 1 a.m. During the fight, DeRise’s boyfriend allegedly sucker punched Binion, who fell to the ground unconscious.
