Free and reduced-cost pet adoptions scheduled in Escambia County

PENSACOLA, Fla. ( WKRG ) — The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is partnering with the BISSELL Pet Foundation from Tuesday, Oct. 1, to Tuesday, Oct. 15, with a live adoption event on Monday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m.

Known as the “Empty the Shelters” event, BISSELL’S Pet Foundation hosts the largest funded adoption event in the country. Beginning in 2016, more than 204,000 pets have found homes. This is also their largest program according to officials, partnering with 730 animal welfare organizations in 49 states and Canada.

Adoption of dogs and cats, one year older is free. Puppies are available for $50 while kittens are $25. An $11 licensing fee is applied to all adoptions for county residents.

Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is located at 200 W. Fairfield Drive, Pensacola.

EVENT LOCATION:

Hours are Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
