A county selection committee has agreed to negotiate with Pensacola Habitat for Humanity to sell more than a dozen residential homes the county built to meet the need for affordable housing .
The selection committee interviewed Pensacola Habitat and HRC Affordable Housing Solutions Inc., Wednesday as part of the selection process, the only two vendors who bid on Escambia County’s request for proposal (RFP) to find “one or more” qualified not-for-profit or other organizations to sell the homes. The interviews were not open to the public, but the committee’s discussion afterward was.
During the discussion, the committee agreed Pensacola Habitat had the highest score with 93.7 points and HRC receiving 75 points for the interview portion of the process.
“It seems pretty clear that there’s a clear distinction between the scores of the firms,” selection committee member and Department Director at Escambia County BCC Chips Kirschenfeld said. “I move that Pensacola Habitat for Humanity be awarded the No. 1 average rank.”
