TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – While Tropical Storm Sara wreaks havoc across Central America, Florida and the Gulf Coast brace for midweek rainfall as Sara’s remnants merge with a strong frontal boundary.

According to TNWWeather.com, the Gulf Coast is expected to see scattered showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the heaviest rainfall projected along the Interstate 10 corridor. Cities such as New Orleans, Mobile, and Pensacola could receive 2-3 inches of rain, with isolated higher totals. In contrast, most of the Florida Peninsula will see more modest rainfall, around 1 inch.

Limited Severe Weather Threat

The National Weather Service (NWS) anticipates that this event will be less impactful than other weather systems currently affecting the U.S., such as heavy snowfall and rain in northern regions.

“Wednesday into early Thursday is a time to watch, but current models suggest weather impacts will be limited, with brief heavy downpours and gusty (but sub-severe) squalls,” stated the NWS office in Miami.
