PENSACOLA, Fla. ( WKRG ) — A new Pensacola welcome sign is now under construction, according to city of Pensacola officials.

A city Facebook post said the steel frame has been set into place, and the next step is to pour the concrete base. (Watch the Facebook Reel to see the progress.)
The new sign will sit between Bayfront Parkway and Gregory Street.
The post said once the structure is complete and the measurements are taken, the city will order the sign to be fabricated and installed.

“We can’t wait until our big friendly pelican is up to greet visitors as they come off the bridge,” read the post.
