Santa Rosa County cold weather shelter to open for New Year

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. ( WKRG ) — Santa Rosa County is opening its cold weather shelter at Ferris Hill Baptist Church for the new year.

According to county officials, the church at 6848 Chaffin St. in Milton will open as a cold weather shelter on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

SHELTER LOCATION:

The shelter for the homeless and/or heatless opens when temperatures drop below 40 degrees. It is scheduled to open to welcome guests from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Officials said only service animals with verification of rabies are allowed to stay with guests. In addition, the release said that no one who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol or unable to walk unaided or disoriented will be welcome at the shelter.
