Santa Rosa County approved more than 60 commercial development projects throughout 2024, ranging from site expansion plans for existing local businesses to brand-new locations for big-name chains like Chipotle, Panera Bread and Walmart.

Some in the latter group, like Scooter’s Coffee among others, have been working to build new locations in Escambia County as well.

Here’s a list of Santa Rosa County’s major approved commercial development projects from this year that are set to bring new commercial interests to the region or help existing ones to expand their reach.

Walmart – 4235 Berryhill Road

Pace is getting a new Walmart on the corner of Berryhill Road and West Spencer Field Road after its development proposal was approved by Santa Rosa County in October.

The future Walmart will have 60,000 square feet and just over 260 parking spots.

Developers also plan to construct an accompanying gas station that will have eight pumps, an approximately 1,600-square-foot convenience store and 10 parking spots.
