Escambia County Recognizes Corrections Officers, Professionals and Nurses Week

Escambia County is excited to recognize Corrections Officers, Professionals and Nurses Week May 4-10, 2025, celebrating the hard-working men and women who make up Escambia County Corrections.

The Escambia County Corrections team works diligently each day to provide residents with protective services and effective criminal justice alternatives that promote a safe environment. Correctional officers are trained law enforcement professionals who are responsible for supervising inmate conduct and behavior to maintain security within the facility. Escambia County Corrections and its team of correctional officers and support personnel are responsible for the care, custody, and control of over 1,300 inmates.

Escambia County Corrections includes the Community Corrections, Detention, and the Work Annex divisions. The Community Corrections Division provides supervision of identified offenders to ensure successful completion of probation, community service work, restitution, and other court-ordered requirements. Detention includes the main jail, Central Booking and Detention Facility, and the Video Visitation Facility. The Work Annex—the only county-operated work camp in Florida—provides a large part of the manual labor workforce for county departments including Public Works, Solid Waste, Parks and Recreation, Animal Welfare, and Facilities Maintenance. Supervised by Road Corrections Officers, work crews perform various tasks for the county including clearing rights of way, grounds maintenance, drainage projects and other road and stormwater maintenance projects.
