Escambia County, Florida, officials acknowledge they need to do more work on a plan for beautifying the renovated Bob Sikes Bridge toll plaza. Much of the public feedback on three proposed designs was unfavorable. The county intends to work with a graphic design firm to create a more appealing version of the facade it intends to build to cover new electronic tolling equipment. The county decided last November to demolish tollbooths and implement open-road tolling at the bridge, which is the gateway to the county’s popular beaches.

Louisiana Transportation Department Gets New Secretary And Deputy

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry (R) yesterday announced changes in Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) leadership. Effective Monday, June 16, Glenn Ledet, Jr., PE, will become the department secretary, replacing Joe Donahue in the post he’s held since January 2024. Mr. Donahue, a lawyer, will transition into the role of DOTD executive counsel. Eric Dauphine, currently district administrator of the department’s Lafayette-District 03, will assume the role of DOTD deputy secretary.

Mr. Ledet has extensive public and private sector experience in developing infrastructure. He will transition to DOTD from his current position as executive director of the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority…
