Families, aviation enthusiasts, and young readers are invited to a special summer event at the National Naval Aviation Museum on Tuesday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., celebrating the release of the museum’s newest children’s book, Thach and the Blues. The event will take place in the Blue Angels Atrium immediately following the morning’s Blue Angels practice demonstration.
Written by the museum’s Education Director, Dianna Hayden, Thach and the Blues introduces children to the wonder of naval aviation through the eyes of Thach, a curious duckling experiencing his first air show with his grandparents, Lolli and Pop Pop. From the rumble of Fat Albert to the breathtaking precision of the Blue Angels’ Super Hornets, the book captures the excitement, discovery, and joy of flight with rhythmic storytelling and vibrant illustrations.
During the event, Hayden will read her new book aloud to children and families in attendance. Guests can also enjoy themed crafts, including creating their own fowl-inspired artwork. Children will have the opportunity to build and take home their own Thach duck, with a small additional cost. Copies of the book will be available for purchase, with all proceeds directly supporting the museum’s Education Department through the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation…
