Free and reduced-fee adoptions at the Escambia County, Fla., animal shelter

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is offering free and reduced-fee adoptions through the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters program.

According to an Escambia County news release, the special adoption event began Wednesday and will continue through July 19.

During the event, all adoptions for cats and dogs one year old or older are free. The adoption fee for puppies during that time is $50, while the fee for kittens is $25. A $15 licensing fee will still be applied to all adoptions for Escambia County residents, the release said.

Adoptable pets are available for viewing on the Animal Welfare and Adoption Center website. The center, located at 200 West Fairfield Drive, is open Monday through Friday from 12-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
